(March 2008) The KySGGA Board of Directors
elected Sam Hancock, a producer in Fulton, the 2008-2009
association president at their spring board meeting.
Hancock says that he likes the direction the
association is heading, commenting on the recent seed variety
development and partnership with the University of Kentucky.
"It is great that we are getting technology
back to the farmers," said Hancock, "and I would like to see
that continue."
Hancock, 33, has been a KySGGA board member
for 3 years and operates a 3200-acre grain and 4900-head hog
corporation with his father Curtis. He earned his bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in agricultural economics from the
University of Kentucky, and worked on a post-graduate degree
at the University of Georgia.
Hancock is a member of the Kentucky Soybean
Board, and has received the DuPont Young Leader Award and the
American Soybean Association Conservation Legacy Award for the
North Eastern United States region. He also recently completed
the Kentucky Agricultural Leadership Program sponsored by the
Kentucky Agricultural Development Board. Hancock is a member
of the Kentucky Farm Bureau, Lyons Club, and the First Baptist
