What's Happening?

2025 Don Halcomb Memorial Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Kentucky Small Grain Growers and Walnut Grove Farms are proud to announce the recipients of the Don Halcomb Memorial Scholarships for Community Leadership Through Agriculture. Two scholarships were offered for $1,000 each, one for a high school senior entering college, and one for a current college student in an undergraduate or graduate program. Applicants were required to be Kentucky residents and pursuing an agriculture or related field at any accredited college, university or trade school.

Jake Wilson

Jake Wilson, of Todd County, is graduating from Todd County Central High School. He plans to attend Hopkinsville Community College to study agronomy, with future plans to continue working on the family farm. The committee appreciated his hands-on work experience, his vision to recognize the need for niche markets, his desire for lifelong learning, and, of course, his dedication to return to his home community. 

 

Riley Pierce

Riley Pierce, of Pulaski County, is studying agricultural economics at Somerset Community College, with a goal of finishing his degree at the University of Kentucky. His future career plan is to expand his farming operation to become a full-time grain farmer. The committee appreciated his communication skills, the diverse farming operation he already manages, his achievements in FFA, and his ambitions to further his education.
